The Liverpool group are due to play when the event takes place from 24-26 June at Worthy Farm in Somerset.

Speaking to Yorkshire Radio's Darren Harper, keyboardist Nick Power said they were “confirmed”.

Harper later posted the news on Twitter. He wrote: "Glastonbury rumours .... I interviewed Nick from The Coral yesterday.... He confirmed they will be playing!"

The news comes after Jarvis Cocker fuelled rumours that Pulp will perform and one tabloid newspaper claimed that Take That could be headlining the Pyramid Stage.

Coldplay, U2 and Prince have also been rumoured to have a slot, along with Beyonce, The Libertines and more.

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2011 sold out within hours after going on sale back in October.

A limited number of tickets will be resold in the New Year.

Those hoping to buy a ticket must be registered first.
