Wild rumour and speculation is now history, as T in the Park promoter Geoff Ellis announces officially that the Balado crowd in 2004 will be treated to a show by the newly reformed Pixies.
Pixies to Headline at T in The ParkT in the Park officially released the news today that The Pixies will be playing this years festival - headlining the main stage of course.
The organisers sound more excited by this than some of the many fans who have been speculating for weeks now about whether this rumoured appearance would actually materialise. Geoff Ellis, CEO of promoters DF Concerts commented: “The Pixies reforming and playing T in the Park is probably one of the most special announcements I've ever made as the promoter of the festival. Like David Bowie, The Pixies have influenced too many bands to mention..."
An official press release just received also quotes George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager as saying “As if the announcement of David Bowie, The Darkness and Muse was not enough, we can now add The Pixies, whose influence is absolutely undeniable in today’s music. To be able to witness the live experience eleven years after their split will be a very special moment for the Balado crowd.”
It's certain that signing The Pixies will do a huge amount for ticket sales at this year's event, and the confirmation that they will be heading the line-up for one day will also surely mean that a wealth of other big names will now be vying to share the stage with this legendary band.
