Record number of UK festivals given green award
14 events named for prestigious Greener Festival Award

Glastonbury Festival, Wireless festival and the Isle of Wight Festival
were three of the fourteen UK festivals handed the award for improving environmental impact and reducing CO2 emissions.
A record number of festivals signed up to be recognised by the award which takes into account travel policies, waste
and recycling policies, water use and noise pollution.
Standon Calling in Hertfordshire, Summer
Sundae Weekender in Leicester and Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth were amongst the other big name
winners.
A handful of smaller summer festivals across the country were handed the award including Wood
Festival, Lounge on the Farm, Splendour, The Bristol Harbour Festival,
Sunrise Celebration, The City of London Festival and the Croissant Neuf Summer Party.
A Greener Festival is expected to add further UK festivals taking place
in August and September to the list at the beginning of October.
The awards will be presented at the UK
Festival Awards on Thursday 18 November at the O2 in London where the overall 'Greenest
Festival' Award will be announced.
