System of the Down singer brings strings and brass to the NME tent

Dressed sharply in a white suit and playing a black acoustic guitar, Tankian thrilled his hardcore fans backed by a small string and brass section.

The Armenian-American singer rambled between songs, drawing inspiration from his political opinions, "instead of hopping across the forest we will be driving the car and you will be on the fucking hood!" he said to applause from the audience who returned with the chanting of 'Super, fast, easy go!' after which the singer professed, "I don't even know what that means."

The set list included 'Electron' from Tankian's second solo effort, during which he snaked his hips to the drum beat.  The drums got more furious "The sun will always shine bright until the unthinking majority rise up and get and education," mused Tankian as the band blasted into before the political side of Tankian shouted, "we need to take away the fucking borders," before 'Unthinking Majority'.

The set ended with huge applause for crowd pleaser, 'Empty Walls'.
