Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Albert Hall

From The Who to Alan Partridge, the Albert Hall will be host to five nights of entertainment designed to draw attention to the the plight of teenage cancer sufferers. Money raised will help to fight desease amongst people with many years left to live.

Monday 29th march to Friday 2nd April are the just announced dates for the 2004 Teenage Cancer Trust fundraising and awareness raising concerts. This now annual series of events brings top names to London's Albert Hall in support of a cause that, it is claimed, fights against discrimination in the NHS.

Roger Daltry of The Who is patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust - in a statement on the trust's website he says: "Teenagers with cancer are still discriminated against by the NHS. It is my mission, through these shows, to end this prejudice. Without teenagers, there would be no pop industry and it is about time they are recognised by the NHS as the distinct group of people that they are."

Since the first of these Albert Hall shows in 2000 the trust has raised over £2million for research and campaigning, and previous events have had support from such names as Bryan Adams, Kelly Jones, Eddie Vedder, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher and Oasis, Electric Soft Parade, Robert Plant, Coldplay, Richard Ashcroft, Doves, Supergrass, Ash, Madness, The Gallaghers, Eric Clapton and Aswad.

2004 is the first time that one of the nights has been turned over to comedy, and Alan Partridge will be hosting an evening billed as 'The Cream of British Comedy'.

The other nights bring you The Who's famous rock opera - Tommy, The Stereophonics + Guests, Tom Jones + Guests and 'an evening with friends', including Jools Holland featuring, David Gilmour, Solomon Burke, Marc Almond, Ruby Turner, and Mica Paris.
