Reading to introduce alcohol and campfire measures

New bans aim to curb criminal and anti-social behaviour

Reading to introduce alcohol and campfire measures

30 June 2010

In an effort to avoid a repeat of last year, where a number of incidents saw concerns grow for the safety of festival-goers, no alcohol bought outside the site will be allowed inside after 6pm on the final day.

There will also be no firewood allowed on-site from 6pm and no campfires after 8pm on the Sunday (29 August).

The measures follow a report on last year's festival by Reading Borough Council, which found: "As groups grew in numbers they began moving around the site committing crime and acting in a disorderly and anti-social manner. Numerous fires were started, telegraph poles carrying onsite lighting were tampered with, sections of fencing were ripped up and hedgerows, tents, rubbish and combustibles were set alight."

Guns n’ Roses, Arcade Fire and Blink 182 will headline the festival this year with support from Weezer, the return of The Libertines, Queens Of The Stone Age, Dizzee Rascal and many more.

Tickets to the festival have sold out. If you weren't one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to the festivals then viagogo have just been announced as the official secondary ticketing partner by organisers Festival Republic who run Reading, Leeds and Latitude.

The site guarantees the transaction and delivery of tickets so fans who buy will actually get their tickets, and fans who sell will actually get paid.

viagogo promises that it will not sell a ticket it doesn’t have, so check the viagogo site for more ticket options.

Reading Festival 2010 will take place at St John’s Farm, Reading and Leeds Festival 2010 is set to be housed at Branham Park, Yorkshire. Both will take place from 27-29 August.
