Wakestock2-4 July

What is it?

The Welsh rockfest celebrating all things Wake-sport, a showcase for talented adrenaline seekers who make their name by flying through the air at speeds of 25mph attached to the back of a boat. For the rest of us, Wakestock is set in stunning location Cardigan Bay, Abersoch and offers an energy packed line-up across three stages. Celebrating its 10th year Wakefest is essentially a party that has morphed into Europe’s biggest Wakeboard competition attracting a healthy handful of the biggest names of the festival season.

Three to see:?

Ensure to put any pre-conceptions behind, N-Dubz were the underdogs of 2009 who stole the limelight. With another year of hits under their belt expect the bar to lift a notch this year.

Blood Red Shoes
With new album ‘Fire Like This’ storming on the scene earlier this year, Blood Red Shoes are sure to deliver, seduce and conquer this summer.

Los Campesinos!
Now popular with the Americans, Los Campesinos! are chaotic and energetic if not a little dark and – Welsh. Quite frankly, it would be rude not to.
Can I get tickets?
Only if you’re very lucky – 50% of tickets were sold in 2009 alone. Weekend camping tickets are £120, non-camping £95 and day tickets £40.

Cornbury Music Festival
- 3-4 July

What is it?
A modern take on a country fair in the quaint Oxfordshire location of Cornbury Park, this festival is where the term ‘diversity’ is an understatement. All ages, images and attitudes co-inside peacefully for a weekend of Morris Dancing, rock and ‘exceptional cakes’. Established in 1796, Cornbury is a pioneer in festival spirit and shows no signs of taking a back seat to current band-waggoning of the brand giants.

Three to see:

Everything else has been churned up from the past, why not a bit of quality new wave throwback? If you know the songs from the first time around, now is the chance to look cool.

Imelda May
Her retro album ‘Love Tattoo’ made the world sit up and listen, with a fan base including Jules Holland and Jeff Beck, you can’t afford to miss this Irish rockabilly songstress.

Angus and Julia Stone
Perfect for the evening slot, take the time to check these guys out. A little haunting and strangely addictive, this brother and sister duo will leave you in need of a little re-adjustment time.

Can I get tickets?
Yes weekend tickets are £95.??
