This is how I'd do it: Sunrise Celebration by Katherine Ritchie

United Kingdom United Kingdom | by Leanne Kelsall | 28 May 2010

Five things to pack for Sunrise Celebration…
“1. Your best dress (conscious and cool ethically - produced by a small local designer using sustainably sourced materials) for watching the Fashion in Transition Fashion Show.
2. Biodegradable washing products (chemical soaps and shampoos are banned from site).
3. An open heart – as you will meet lovely new people – Sunrise is renowned for its family vibe.
4. An open mind - as you are guaranteed to encounter loads of new things.
5. Your circus freak outfit for dressing up and visiting the carnival field – celebrate your individuality.”

Is there anything ticket-holder can do to get involved with the festival now?
“Sunrise is all about getting involved, you can't take a step without tripping over some workshop or other, from willow weaving to den building, wild herbs walks and laughter yoga there's plenty of ways to feel a part of this gorgeous festie. If this all sounds too energetic you could just make sure you put your rubbish in the bin. Sunrise has one of the cleanest and tidiest festival sites in Britain, thanks to our amazing litter pickers and great punters."

The best way to travel to Sunrise Celebration is…

?“Ooohhh that would have to be the most low carbon and innovative way possible, which means they get entered into the Wacky Races and could win Sunrise tickets for life! For the less adventurous among us cycling from Bristol, getting the lemon bus from Brighton or coaching it from London are all great and green ways of coming. And there are regular buses from the stations, making it easier and cheaper to travel by public transport.  If you do want to drive, register with Via-share to pick up lift-sharers to stay in tune with the eco vibe. Check out the 'Getting There' page on the Sunrise website.”
To start the weekend I recommend you…

?“Head straight for the Carnival of Life field where Bristol's Invisible Circus will be heading up the freakiest and weirdest circus shows you've ever seen. Plus there's an adult bouncy castle, a fair ground, a world dance stage, the Pussyfoot cocktail bar and the Ethical Fashion Clothing Emporium. Shopping, organic cocktails and Samba.... heaven!”
The event focuses on the use renewable energy and organic goods, the greatest to get involved over the weekend is to…

?“Take in some inspiring talks so you leave feeling motivated and driven to spread the vibe of spiritual activism into you own community."
The three bands not to miss during the festival are… ?

“The Egg, Gentleman’s Dub Club and The Correspondents.”

Away from the music, ticket-holders must make sure they catch…

“The Wacky Races parade on the Sunday, the Ethical Fashion Show on the Saturday and the 'Therapy Sucks' stall where you can get your hands and feet massaged by little fishes...no I'm serious... you really can. Pick up new skills in the crafts area, get an astrology reading or make yourself a costume for the carnival.”

For some of the best grub, festival-goers should try…

?“That has to be a toss up between Gilcombe Farm's very own organic cider and hog roast bar and River Cottage's delicious mix of inspired natural delights and foody workshops Personally, I'm doing it day about.”

Shh. It’s a bit of an inside tip but festival-goers should visit…
"The festival itself, it is the best kept secret in Britain. As to hidden gems, there are so many. One being the giant tent that looks like a ladybird, hence the name, the Ladybird Project where people of all ages can get in touch with their creative powers. Oh and there may just be the flashiest eco car you've ever seen.”
To finish the weekend of I suggest…

?“You get the phone numbers of all the gorgeous new friends you've met and give a hearty sigh like you would after a particularly delicious and fulfilling meal.”

Anything else to add?
?“Check out the Sunrise website, there's so much else going on and I'll see you in the beautiful Somerset countryside: www.sunrisecelebration.com”
