U2's Glastonbury 2010 headline slot in jeopardy?

22 May 2010

The Irish group have already postponed a date at Salt Lake City in the USA but no other shows have been affected as yet.

Speaking on the band’s official site, manager Paul McGuiness said: “We were due to start rehearsals on Tuesday [25 May] in Salt Lake City and get the show ready for the next leg and there were going to be some changes and some new material. It’s unfortunate that we’re inconveniencing fans. We will make plans to reinstate these dates as soon as possible.”

He also added: “We hope to get things resolved as soon as possible. Keep watching U2.com and you’ll get the information as soon as we can get it out to you.”

Speculation around possible replacements for U2 if they pull out lean towards Radiohead or Coldplay as both are known favourites of the Eavis family.

In other news, Biffy Clyro look likely to play the festival after they appeared in Q Magazine’s ’50 Acts You Must See At Glastonbury Festival 2010’ article in the latest edition of the monthly music zine.

The group however aren’t officially confirmed, leading to rumours that they will to be revealed as a secret guest at the event or they will perform an unannounced slot. The magazine is an official media partner for the festival.
