Kendal Calling to showcase independent artists

There are grants to help make the ideas come to life on site

Phil Micallef - 19 April 2010

Organisers are seeking a range of ideas from sculptures to interactive installations to inventive performance art and have placed no minimal restraints or themes to stick to, giving applicants the chance to be as creative as they like.

Examples of site art from previous festivals include a recreation of Uncle Monty’s living room from the film ‘Withnail and I’, a giant UV canopy, a water monster and scrap metal robots.

Applications are now open until 10 May 2010.  Anyone interested in applying can contact art@kendalcalling.com or download an application form from http://www.wearecalling.com/artform.doc.

Calvin Harris
will headline the event with Festival favourites Wild Beasts, Sunderland’s finest The Futureheads, OK Go and Dub Pistols also be performing on the main stage.

There are also a number of top notch DJs announced who are guaranteed to get the crowd moving with sets from Erol Alkan, DJ Yoda, Scratch Perverts, High Contrast and Elite Force pencilled in over the weekend.

Justin Robertson, Danny Byrd and Doorly will also hit the ones and twos alongside Eskimo Twins and Emalkay.

Tickets are on sale now priced at £85 for general release passes.
