Isle of Wight to host festival on original 1970 site?

Hawkwind want to return to Afton 40 years on

Space rock group Hawkwind, who performed at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, are looking to host a mini-event of their own at the original site.

The band have applied for a licence to host a festival at East Afton Farm where the legendary event took place 40 years ago, reports the Isle Of Wight County Press.

The family-friendly event is expected to take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (27-29 August) with a capacity of just 1,000.
