Back with a new album, ‘I Speak Because I Can’, the young troubadour told Jo Good on BBC 6Music her plans for the coming months.
Asked about what festivals fans can expect to see
her perform at, Marling said: “As far as I’m aware, so far Glastonbury and Latitude.
“I’m
not a huge fan of festivals, but Latitude sounds like my kind of place,” she added.
Glastonbury
Festival has also announced that the popular Leftfield Stage will be back at this year’s event
after a two-year break.
Dubbed as the “pop and politics tent”, the stage very much serves as the focal
point of activism at the festival with its rich combination of music and political debate.
Once again, the stage
will be curated by Essex’s finest political songwriter, Billy Bragg.
Proceedings will
get under way at midday with debates running until 3pm, followed by artists collaborating with Bragg from 4pm, then culminating
in band performances from 6pm.
In an interview with the official Glastonbury website, Bragg said: “Glastonbury
is the original activist festival. It has always had that political edge since it’s rebirth in the 1980s as a gathering
for dissidents and dancers.
“Leftfield’s mixture of red and green politics aims to reflect the way
activism plays an important part in the festival as a whole.”
Glastonbury Festival 2010 takes place at Worthy Farm, Somerset
from 23-27 June, while Latitude
2010 will take place at Henham Park, Southwold from 15-18 July.
