30 July 2003
More tickets will be released next week for Big Day Out At The Green, Scotland's newest music event, which is bringing some of the world's biggest names in rock to Glasgow Green on Sunday, August 24th.
All 35,000 tickets for the event were initially snapped up in June, but now fans who lost out first time around will have a second chance to see huge acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, when ticket lines reopen on Monday 4th August, at 9am. The final acts for the bill were recently announced with the addition of PJ Harvey, Electric Six and The Distillers! Says promotor, Geoff Ellis: "2003 has been an incredible year for music in Scotland, with sold out stadium shows, the Tenth year of T in the Park, a fantastic line-up at this year's T on the Fringe and of course Big Day Out At The Green, which looks set to be the best rock event Scotland has seen for a long time. It will be the perfect end to a perfect summer." Festival gates will open at 12 midday and the event will end at approximately 10.45pm. The site entrance and exit will be from the west of the city through the McLennan Arch or from the east of the city from behind the People's Palace. For music fans who like even more excitement at their festivals, Big Day Out At The Green will host a global food village which will keep fans well fed all day with delicious meals including noodles, baguettes, burgers and hot dogs, Mexican, fish n chips and pizza. To wash down the food, there will be two front of house bars plus one small wine bar and a Costa Coffee stand on site. For those who are planning to drive to the event, there will be no public parking at the venue or near the park. City centre parking will be at the High Street car park and parking restrictions will apply on the main roads surrounding the venue. If travelling by public transport, buses and trains will be running their normal Sunday service timetable. First Bus will be running frequent bus services from all surrounding areas to Glasgow Green (Trongate/Glasgow Cross, Stockwell Street, and Bridgeton Cross) with the number 5 from Stockwell Street running every 10 mins during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening.
