Says Michael Eavis

23 November 2009
The historic occasion will mark the first time the legendary band have appeared at the event (which was voted Best
Major Festival for the second year in a row at last Thursday's UK Festival Awards) in their
32-year career, despite many rumours over the years and it is widely known that they have been high on Eavis' target list
for a long time. It also marks their first festival appearance since the early 1980's.“The 26-year-old rumour
has finally come true”, beamed Michael Eavis, “At last, the biggest band in the world are going to play
the best festival in the world!
“Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary party. And
there are even more surprises in the pipeline...”
Other acts rumoured to be in contention to play at
next year's event include The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Muse and David Bowie.
