Glastonbury wins back-to-back Best Major gongs
United Kingdom | 19 November 2009
For the second year in a row, Glastonbury Festival has picked up Best Major Festival gong at the UK Festival Awards.
The Somerset event saw off stiff competition from the likes of Reading, Download and the Isle of Wight festivals to pick up the prize.
The evening proved doubly special for organisers as their Sunday night headliners, Blur, picked up Best Headline Performance too.
But the real plaudits in the organiser sector of the industry went to student festival Beach Break Live, who picked up the Promoter of the Year Award.
Festival chiefs were given the accolade after having to find a new venue to re-house the whole event within six days of it kicking off.
And not only did they manage it, but festival-goers voted the bash as Best Small Festival of 2009 as well.
