Big Day Out Australia sells out in record time

'I guess the recession is over' beam organisers

All of the passes for next year's Big Day Out Australia have been snapped up in record time.

This includes two Sydney shows following a ticket cock up that allowed eager festival-goers to buy passes to the festival 12 hours before they were supposed to go on sale, forcing bosses to add a second date.

Speaking about the news, festival director Ken West said: “Well I guess the recession is officially over. For our first Big Day Out in January 1992, the first day’s sales were a grand total of 57 tickets. At the time I thought that was okay. It is unbelievable that over 250,000 tickets would be snapped up in a few days for the 2010 shows.”

Muse will headline Big Day Out (AUS) 2010 which will tour Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth from 17-31 January.
