Ian Brown's show and the case of the tattooed man...

The legend that is Ian Brown came to Dubai and absolutely smashed it at the Dubai Sound City launch party last Thursday.  He played to a packed house at the Madinat Arena and at the end of it joyously proclaimed it to be in his all time Top 5 of gigs and performances including those with The Stone Roses. He played a sterling set that included the current smash ‘Stellify’ (which he played twice!) alongside classic such as ‘Waterfall’, ‘F.E.A.R’, ‘Fools Gold’ and ‘I Wanna Be Adored’.  I have to say on a personal level I have never seen him so up for it.  He was continuously joking with the audience and prowling the stage, throwing in a few new moves on top of the gaggle of classics he already possesses.

One funny incident that seems to have seeped through from the gig was the incident that has been referred to as ‘the tattooed man.’  One eager fan was keen to show the tattoo that covered the whole of his back and contained the lyrics to ‘I Am The Resurrection’.  Ian pointed this out to his mate at the side of the stage and asked him to come and take a look.  His mate got the wrong end of the stick and thought he wanted him to dealt with in a more serious manner.  Suffice to say it all ended in laughter and joy and this strange Alan Partridge moment ended up with worshiper meeting hero backstage (see photo below of aforementioned tattoo).
