Bestival's potential 'secret guests' a no go
United Kingdom | 14 August 2009
Beastie Boys were potentially lined up as the secret guests for this year's Bestival, but due to illness a return to the Isle of Wight for the rappers has been put on hold.
As picked up by Isle of Wight blog Ventnorblog.com, Rob da Bank twittered about the situation.
He wrote: “Had potentially had The Beastie Boys for secret act but adam yauch has cancer so not happenin.wishin him a speedy recovery:-)”
The festival is now famed for its secret shows with Madness, Grace Jones and The Specials all performing in the past.
That means the Bestival-faithful are set to go back to the guessing game as to who will play this year.
Kraftwerk, Massive Attack and Elbow will headline the sold out Bestival 2009 which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from 11-13 September.
