Bloom Festival 2009 cancelled
Bloom Festival cancels with under two weeks notice, but vows to return in 2010.
Organisers have announced that this year’s event will not been taking place, citing the move away from their original site at West Littleton Down and the current 'difficult economic conditions' as their reasons for pulling the plug.
Festival organiser Olivia Chapman said: “It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as Bloom is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls.
“We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision.”
Ticket-holders will now be able to part-exchange their tickets for a weekend at either Beachdown Festival 2009 in Brighton on 28-31 August for £22.50, or The Big Chill 2009 at Eastnor Castle on 7-9 August for £55.
Additionally, they will automatically receive free entry for Bloom Festival 2010 plus an extra ticket free of charge.
Bloom Festival 2009 was due to take place on 14-16 August at Chepstow Racecourse in Gwent, where the dates and license are already in place for next year.
Organisers are also looking to put on a party at Motion in Bristol on 15 August, when the festival was due to be in full swing. Entry will be free for those with a Bloom tickets, with more details to be announced shortly.
This year's festival was set to see performances from Finley Quaye, Scratch Perverts, Noah And The Whale and Utah Saints.
