Beck injured at Field Day Festival

10 June 2003
Medics feared that the injury could puncture Beck's lung if he performed his set at the event, which had been relocated to the Giants Stadium, at the eleventh hour, due to licensing problems with the original site.
A statement on Beck's official website said, "Fortunately there was nothing broken but Beck was in considerable pain and discomfort. He tried to go back and do something acoustically but the complicated logistics of the festival made it impossible. He sends his sincere apologies to his fans and hopes that despite the weather and his absence they managed to have a fun day at the show."
The new Field Day festival suffered from legal and political issues in the weeks leading up to the event, culminating in a venue being secured last week and tickets going on sale on Wednesday (June 4).
