Come on the blues...

Here are two lovely people we bumped into at Glastonbury, supporting Oxfam’s fab
Here & Now campaign which is backed by pop stars like Jarvis Cocker, VV Brown,
Fatboy Slim and The Kooks who have all been photographed sporting a bold new look –
blue faces – as Oxfam campaigns over the next few months for a fairer climate deal. A video of the blue faced celebrities
is available on the Observer
website here and loads of people picked up a facial makeover at Glasters, giving the fields a lovely blue tinge.
But not everyone at Glastonbury was blue, in fact the boys in blue were distinctly green as the mighty Glastonbury
Green Police spent the weekend making a heck of a noise too, persuading everyone not to pee in the hedges and streams
and asking people to pick up litter and ‘leave no trace’.
We are in the middle of auditing festivals
for this year's Greener Festival Award scheme - Firegathering, the Atlanta Jazz Festival
and Sunrise are all done, Greg was at Bonnaroo in the USA, Luke and Cass went to the
Isle of Wight, we had a big team at Glastonbury, Iain is off to T In The Park next
week, Penny was at Wireless yesterday, Amie has already done five fab Australian Festivals including Peats
Ridge and Bluesfest and Claire is in Italy at the Sunsplash this weekend. All of
our Festival organisers seems to be making a real real effort to get greener and cleaner - if you see any good green idea
that impress you - please do let us know - you can email us at agreenerfestival@aol.com
- put 'green' in the subject box. And if you have been to a festival this year and want to donate
to Festival Wood - our new environmental project - go to the www.agreenerfestival.com
homepage for more details on how to donate £3 or £5 using your mobile - and plant a tree or two!
