Doves are looking to sue Hellman's Mayonnaise

On the main stage, the former-Jam frontman wowed the crowd with hits like ‘From The Floorboards Up’, ‘Shout To The Top’ and ‘Changing Man’ with this trademark red guitar in hand, while it was kicking off in the dance tent for a set by 2 Many DJs.

The Belgian duo, who were in dinner suits and black bow ties for the occasion, where whacking out remixes, mainly their own, of tracks like ‘Stand In The Way Of Control’ by The Gossip and Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’ to a great response from the crowd.

Earlier on in the day, Doves pulled the biggest crowd of the weekend as they ran through tracks like ‘Black And White Town’, ‘Kingdom Of Rust’ and a samba version of ‘There Goes The Fear’, but it was the band’s gripe with Hellman’s Mayonnaise that was perhaps the most memorable moment.

“I was reading the papers over the weekend,” mused singer Jimi Goodwin, “and I came across this Hellman’s Mayonnaise advert. It looks like they’ve taken it from our backdrop. Have a look and see if we can sue them. Boycott Hellman’s Mayonnaise!”

On the Saturday The Fratellis headlined to a much depleted crowd as they played tracks like ‘Creeping Up The Backstairs’, ‘Whistle For The Choir’ and crowd-pleaser ‘Chelsea Dagger’.

Editors and The View both debuted new tracks, while The Rumble Strips and Fight Like Apes both drew healthy crowds in the third stage.

Hop Farm 2009 took place at The Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, Kent from 4-5 July.
