Fat Freddy's Drop have announced that they have cancelled their European tour for 2009, leaving Secret Garden Party and WOMAD without a headliner.

The band, who hail from New Zealand, will also be absent from Lovebox, where they were booked to perform next month.

A statement released through their MySpace page reads: "It is with real regret that Fat Freddys are unable to deliver our July 2009 European tour... it was a decision that has not been taken lightly – will you ever believe us ever again? We hope that our new album Dr Boondigga & The Big BW will alleviate your disappointment and help you keep the faith."

Replacement acts for all three of the festivals are yet to be announced.
