Glastonbury's Trash City field returns for 2009
Human pinball, You Me Bum Bum Train and more

21 May 2009
Expect more burlesque, interactive art, music, theatre and a spot of human pinball during the weekend as the “intergalactic
red-light district” comes to life to five days.
Mutoid Waste Co, who have been making
scrap-pile sculptures since the 1980s will unveil their latest creation – The Juke Joint. The venue
will be a giant interactive pinball table-cum-music arena in which the audience gets catapulted through a series of incredible
worlds, culminating in a giant light-up score board which reveals a four-piece robot band and chorus line of 30 foot animatronic
puppets when the score hits its highest peak.
Trash City is also set to include the ‘Dawn
‘Till Dust’ inspired Aztec temple-cum-biker bar which will showcase underground bands and DJs as well as hosting
a nightly aerial Vampire show.
The world’s first travelling gay disco, The NYC Downlow,
is also set to return to Pilton as a bombed-out New York tenement, while live art/theatre group You Me Bum Bum Train
will be high-jacking a real-life plane crash and taking the audience for a wild ride through a random array of weird
and wonderful worlds.
The area will also have the Rubbish Fairy’s House Of Doll –
a technicolour den of disorder presenting a multi-media extravaganza of art, music and performance.
Bruce
Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur will headline Glastonbury Festival
2009 which take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset from 24-28 June.
