Those hurt at the event were taken to Derby Royal Infirmary with neck, shoulder and back problems and one suspected broken wrist, reports BBC News.
Speaking
about the accident, site manager Sally Booth said: "It's been raining and windy all day but this was a freak
gust of wind that was capable of knocking people over."
The winds took part of the roof off of the main
stage, damaging the structure and forcing the arena to be closed.
Some people were also treated for shock, but
the festival continued with a spokesperson from the event describing the mood of the event as ‘buoyant’, the following
morning.
Neville Staples, Hawkwind and The
Saw Doctors were among the acts performing at Bearded Theory 2009.
