Bona-fide deck master Carl Cox and dance duo extraordinaire Underworld have been confirmed for Bestival 2009.
Both acts are to throw down exclusives for this summer's edition of the Isle of Wight extravaganza.
Cox is pencilled in for an old school show in the Big Top whilst Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, aka Underworld, are down for an exclusive DJ set on the main stage, ahead of Kraftwerk's much anticipated Saturday appearance.
Rob Da Bank had this to say about the coups: “Carl Cox and Underworld have both soundtracked my raving years and both have smashed it at Bestival before. I’m grinning like a fool at the prospect of Karl and Rick warming up the Bestival masses before Kraftwerk and Coxy tearing the roof off the Big Top on Sunday night. I’ll make sure I’m not DJing at the same time as him this year!”
In case appetites weren't whet enough already, a host of other big DJs were added to the line-up today, 15 May, headed by Tom Middleton, who'll be strutting his stuff on the Afterburner Stage, Krafty Kuts, A Skillz and Jaguar Skills.
They will be joined by Heavenly Jukebox, Jaymo & Andy George, Flying White Dots aswell as Justin Robertson, Foamo, Feeling Gloomy DJs and Firas.
Hijack, Scuba, L-Vis 1990, Rachel Barton and Broken Heart DJs have also been added to rather prestigous DJ bill alongside Lee Mortimer, Michael Cook, Outmode, Paul Trouble Arnold, and The Correspondents.
For those with a penchant for the live stuff Mr Hudson and the Library, Vetiver, Paloma Faith, The Field and Black Acid are confirmed to bolster the live act line-up as have Skint & Demoralised and Drums of Death.
The Mummers, Dirty Projectors and A Child Rasputin are also included in today's announcements alongside The Hat, The Big Hairy Band, Natty, The Subs, Sound of Run and The Kook's Luke Pritchard.
The Gramaphone, JC & Angelina, Sons Of Aesos and The Adventurists complete the compelling list of new additions to the festival which is set to be headlined by Elbow, Massive Attack and Kraftwerk.
Other names for the festival which has won the Best Medium Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards three times include MGMT, Fleet Foxes, Seasick Steve, DJ Yoda, Passion Pit and many more.
