Roy Ayers and more for WOMAD 2009
The Apples, Che Sudaka, 17 Hippies and more added

Israel’s funk-dance troupe The Apples, Latin American
punks Che Sudaka and British singer-songwriter Charlie Winston will join the singer, famed
for tracks like ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’, at the Charlton Park event.
China’s
Mamer, Chicago jazz and hip hop septet Hypnotic Brass Ensemble have also been confirmed
along with CirKus, Los Desterrados and Berlin folk rockers 17 Hippies.
Other names announced today include Shellie Morris, Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter
and Melingo as well Cuban rappers Orishas, Eliades Ochoa and beatboxer
Schlomo who will play with his vocal orchestra.
These additions join Dub Colossus,
Ethiopiques, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Nneka and many more.

The festival’s
Taste The World tent is set to return which gives artists the chance to show off their cooking skills and which often turns
into an impromptu gig.
The drum n bass tent is set to return for 2009 with yoga classes and salsa lessons as well
as big names in the dance genre.
The World of Kids will have the usual comprehensive programme of workshops, entertainment
and activities being held throughout the weekend and the magnificent Children’s Parade.
WOMAD 2009 will take place at Charlton Park, Wiltshire from 25-27
July.
