Tim Burgess completes IOW Festival bill
United Kingdom | 30 April 2009
Tim Burgess, lead singer of The Charlatans, has unveiled the line-up he's handpicked for the Isle of Wight Festival Big Top.
Post punk group Killing Joke, goth poppers The Horrors and American garage rockers Black Lips will all appear in the tent on the Sunday (14 June) along with New York’s The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
London quartet Hatcham Social, who Burgess described as “a wonderful pop group with the coolest drummer,” have also been confirmed alongside S.C.U.M. and Poppy And The Jezebels.
The aptly named Dance For Burgess, will open the Big Top on the Sunday with The She Set, The Horrors’ Rhys Webb and Tim Burgess himself will all DJ during the day before The Charlatans close the tent on Sunday evening.
Speaking about how he got involved, Tim Burgess said: "I got involved because John Giddings from the Isle of Wight Festival asked me to put together a line up, he wanted The Charlatans to headline, and you know, he gave me a budget and I booked the bands I wanted to see on the day."
The Prodigy, Razorlight, Stereophonics and Neil Young headline the diverse bill at the Newport based bash, with many more bands confirmed.
