The calypso ska legends will join PJ Harvey and Mercury Rev as headliners for the Dorset
bash, which will return for its second year in July.
Camp Bestival, founder Rob da Bank
couldn't be happier with this new addition, “I booked him for Bestival a couple of years back and he
smashed it with one of the tightest bands and razzle dazzle performances I've booked,” he said, “It
was like Prince meets George Clinton on a desert island and he's coming to Dorset!"
The Camp Bestival
boss also revealed plans for a spectacular finish to the festival on the Sunday with a stunning surprise for the senses.
Rob da Bank will DJ while the best pyrotechnic innovators in the UK, The World Famous and the English
National Ballet provide the visuals.
The finale is set to be extraordinary, as the press release explains:
"The castle starts off illuminated with strobing white flares, glittering silver fish swim in the sky, fired from
massive cakes on the roof, the castle turns red as noisy crackling fountains erupt, the pace drops and goes slow and dreamy,
performers swing waterfall units around their head, gentle cascading spirals of silver intertwine with the music before high
pitched whistles shoot from the roof and the whole shebang climaxes with a multicoloured celebration of music and fire. Jeepers,
it’s gonna be pant wettingly good."
Other treats over the weekend include Bon Iver,
Erol Alkan, Roots Manuva and DJ Derek alongside a whole roster of live
acts and DJ's covering a wide range of genres.
