Line-ups
The Prodigy aren’t shy of a festival or two this summer
but they’ve announced that they have managed to squeeze in yet another date. The ‘Firestraters’ are taking
their warriors to Serbia to attempt to take over the fortress at EXIT Festival.
The
battles don’t stop just their though, with the Seribian event extending it’s Back 2 Back theme with the following
DJS are crossing swords, well needles anyway, in head to head spin-offs:
Kissy Sell Out vs Alex Metric
Darren Emerson vs Sander Kleinenberg
Heidi vs Derrick Carter
From swords being crossed to axes
being wielded at Highfield in Germany. American rockers Deftones have accepted the gauntlet
along with local rapper, Dendemann and Port O’Brien.
Port O’Brien
had better brush up on their German before the season starts as they are heading south to play at FM4 Frequency Festival
too. The Austrian festival has also added Radiohead, Editors and Grace Jones to
their line-up alongside Glasvegas, we’re hoping with that strong Glaswegian accent they’re practicing
their Austrian inflections.
Talking of Glasvegas let’s hope their mums have packed sun crème
amongst all of thier black t-shirts because they’ve been confirmed to play Benicassim. 2 Many
DJs, Manchester band (and Mecury Music Awards winners don’t you know) Elbow and Foals
will be making the most of the Barcelona sunshine too along with Lily Allen.
Keith Allen’s
daughter has had another busy week festival-wise, crossing off Spain’s Benicassim, Croatia’s INmusic and France’s
Les Vieilles Charrues in just one day. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; joining her and 200,000
punters in France will be Metronomy, Birdy Nam Nam and Alela Diane as well
as the previously announced Bruce Springsteen and The Killers.
Croatia’s
T-Mobile INmusic Festival has confirmed that Arctic Monkeys are set to headline, but this isn't
to be confused with INmusic Festival, which has Moby, Franz Ferdinand and Kraftwork
performing.
Pop princess, Ms Allen gets a further mention this week as she, Kasabian, Fall
Out Boy and Wilco were all announced for Lowlands along with The Whitest
Boy Alive and Calexico.
Pop announcements don’t stop there though with Pinkpop
revealing The Noisettes, Mando Diao and Rowwen Heze as part of their bill,
completing the 2009 line-up.
Roskilde also dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s
this week by completing their programme for the upcoming event. Coldplay, Oasis, Slipknot
and more will feature this June.
Tickets
Ireland’s Electric
Picnic revealed a slew of names for the event before announcing that their tickets are going on sale this week (fish
and hook anyone?). Among the names released are Orbital, The Flaming Lips, Madness
and Basement Jaxx. Click
here to get your tickets before they all go.
Over on
Virtual Festivals UK

bill toppers at Hop At The Farm Festival, while The Horrors were confirmed to close the
main stage on the Friday night at Lounge On The Farm. Elsewhere it was smaller bands filling up the bills

Jets heading up the latest acts for Summer Sundae Weekender and Doves extending
their whistle stop tour of the country at Lovebox.
