We Have Band, Glastonbury's emerging talent
United Kingdom | 30 March 2009
British disco-rock trio We Have Band have clinched Glastonbury 2009's emerging talent competition.
A unanimous decision by a judging panel which included Emily Eavis and father Michael has given the band a dream slot on one of the festival’s main stages.
A dozen bands competed throughout the weekend for the coveted crown which finally went to the three piece described as “strikingly original, energetic and deserving of a mainstage slot’ by one arbitrator from Q.
Emily Eavis added: “The whole weekend went really, really well,” said Emily Eavis. “It was a particularly high standard this year and I'm really pleased that all 12 of the finalists will be playing at the Festival.”
All twelve are set to re-unite at the Queen’s Head venue on Thursday 25 June.
Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen are set to headline the festival this summer alongside Blur who are destined for an epic comeback. Franz Ferdinand and Lily Allen are also on the bill with Tony Christie who was confirmed this morning.
