Line-ups
When he's not scrapping paparazzi in the airport Kayne West
delivers a 'knockout' live show and Wireless have 'snapped' up the rapper for a headline
slot at the Hyde Park event this July - be extra vigilant with your disposable camera though.
From one camera-shy
singer to another with Lily Allen set to sail down to the Isle of Wight to partake in all the fun at Bestival.
Jack Penate, Annie Nightingale, The Penguin Café, an Orbital
DJ set and more have also been confirmed this week.
The Happy Mondays’ have
been out of this world or at least in their own little orbit since about '87 but Guilfest have managed
to land them for a Sunday night headline slot joining Motorhead and Brian Wilson, who were
both announced last week.
Talking of the 80’s, Latitude have been digging the crates
for their bill toppers this summer, inviting Pet Shop Boys to Henham Park as well as Nick Cave And
The Bad Seeds on the Sunday night and the insane-ly good Grace Jones.
Don't
worry, the tedious links are set to continue with 'Insane In The Brain' rappers Cypress Hill announced
as headliners for the Relentless Boardmasters Festival in Watergate Bay along with Roots Manuva,
dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip and more.
From one end of the country to the other with Scotland’s
T In The Park securing performances from Jamie T, Metronomy and local lad
Calvin Harris, who will be making his way down the road to perform. Download organisers
have been busy this week confirming appearances from You Me At Six, Opeth, Mushaggah,
Duff McKagan's Loaded and more, so festival-goers can expect shrills and pyrotechnics at Donington Park
this June.
The should be plenty of flames at this year’s Wickerman Festival - not
only will there be a sacrificial torching of a 30-foot wicker man structure on the Saturday night - but Utah Saints,
Kid British and disco legend Candi Stanton are set to place alight [You’re on
fire – Puns Ed.].
Elsewhere The Zutons head up the bill at Cambridge Folk Festival
along with Lucinda Williams, Bellowhead, The Saw Doctors and Mumford
And Sons, while Yeah Yeah Yeahs are the latest headline act confirmed for next month’s Camden
Crawl.
Super Furry Animals will join Laura Marling at Blissfields
as the organisers of 2007’s Best Small Festival look to make this year’s their best ever following
a hiatus last summer.
Whilst on the subject of reminiscing Sasha and Digweed, who were the
duo to catch back in the 90s, are set to reunite for an exclusive back-to-back set at South West Four.
Tickets
The hottest ticket of the week was for Wireless sponsored
by Barclaycard. Use yours to buy passes to Kanye West in Hyde Park at a Gold diggin’ £45.
But bad luck if you were looking to go to Camden Crawl, weekend passes have all been snapped up, though day
tickets are available here.
Over on Virtual Festivals Europe
Kanye West’s summer is set to be a hectic with the rapper set to pack his bags for Roskilde
in Denmark and Les Eurokeenes de Belfort in France, while Lily Allen is as equally busy
joining line-ups for Inmusic and Open’er. The reformed Faith No More
will play Hove Festivalen while supergroup Chickenfeet (made up of Joe Satriani, Red Hot
Chili Peppers and Van Halen members) have confirmed that they will play Nova Rock, Graspop Metal
Meeting and more.
News just in
Fatboy Slim has had
to cancel his Snowbombing appearance because he is still in rehab battling with alcohol problems. 2
Many DJs are set to take his slot next week.
And finally…
We
know that nobody likes dressing up more than Lily Allen – she was spotted sporting a nice dinosaur
outfit at Glastonbury a few years back – so it was no surprise that Bestival selected the singer to
judge their Fancy Dress competition. Fans are being encouraged to get into some space-themed gear and send pictures to fancydress@bestival.net
for a chance to win tickets to the event for life!
