Sex on toast, Finley Quaye, Neil Young and refused visas

Line-ups
After months of speculation, Neil Young was finally confirmed as the third headliner for Glastonbury (Michael
Eavis has promised four) joining Bruce Springsteen and Blur at the top of the bill.
But just as one rumour ebbed away, another emerged with Crosby
Stills And Nash self-confirming their appearance at the festival on their website. Young himself is a part-time
member of the group, but fans can rule out a reunion as Young is set to headline Hard Rock Calling in London,
the same day as they’re expected in Somerset.
A band that will be sharing the stage with Young this summer
is Pixies, who will be playing just before the 'Cinnamon
Man' at the Isle Of Wight Festival, their only UK festival of the year.
Nine Inch Nails will be making far more than one festival stop in 2009 though, confirming
Sonisphere (with Anthrax, Killing Joke and Airbourne)
as well as T In The Park (with Jane's Addiction, Pet Shop Boys, Eagles
Of Death Metal and more) this week.
Glade have proved to be the one of the more adventurous events so
far his summer, by adding world music stars like Femi Kuti,
Finley Quaye, Nitin Sawhney to the traditionally dance-orientated event. But fear not fans, Booka Shade,
Squarepusher, Plump DJs, Dave Clarke and Juan Atkins will
be bringing the noise as well.
Wireless organisers were tuning into the dance dial on Wednesday
(11 March) by adding acid house lord Paul Oakenfold, Fischerspooner, Frankmusik,
Sneaky Sound System to the Basement Jaxx-headlined dance day.
Beach Break
Live organisers promised a line-up as good as "sex on toast", so add your own joke about them
confirming Scratch Perverts. They’ve also got Dizzee
Rascal, The Zutons, Mystery Jets and a whole lot more gearing up for Cornwall this June.
Elsewhere
End Of The Road bagged two big headliners for the September: Fleet Foxes and Explosions In The Sky.
Organisers also added a slew of acts including Malcolm Middleton, Mumford And Sons, The
Acorn and more.
Dub Colossus were
confirmed as the final headliner for Wychwood Music Festival joining the two Supers - Furry Animals
and Grass – as bill toppers. The festival also flashed its family-friendly credentials as bosses announced
that Ade Edmondson (of The Young Ones fame) will play with his band The Bad Shepherds at
the event, while his daughter Ella Edmondson is set for a solo slot.
Inner city festivals have
been busy bods this week as well, with Stag And Dagger revealing a tasty line-up - Cold War Kids, Andrew Weatherall,
Wild Beasts etc – for the newly expanded event, which will take in London, Leeds and Glasgow. While Camden
Crawl added legends like Billy Bragg, Echo
And The Bunnymen and Idlewild to an ever increasing bill.
Scouting For Girls
and Sugababes will head up the Cornbury Music Festival in Oxfordshire with Sharleen
Spitari, The Damned, The Pretenders, The Magic Numbers and 3
Daft Monkeys beefing up the bill.

Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park
announced a mighty 36 new acts including Basement Jaxx and more, Bloc Party and Lily
Allen to join Coldplay at Main Square Festival, the reformed Faith No More
and more to play Nova Rock, DJ Yoda, Herman Dune, Saint Etienne
are among the Primavera Sound additions, The Prodigy will headline FM4 Frequency
Festival, while Moby will headline Positivus and Balaton Sound
Festivals. Paul Weller is among the first names confirmed for Cactusfestivalen, Duffy and
more will head to Hurricane and Southside, Nine Inch Nails will play Switzerland's Open Air St Gallen, while Kaiser
Chiefs head up yet more big names at Rock Werchter.
And finally…
After being refused a US visa, Amy Winehouse
had to cancel her Coachella appearance, organisers went ahead and added Chemical Brothers (DJ Set),
The Orb, Plump DJs, Devndra Banhart sets anyway.
