The alt-rock legends are set to appear before headliner Neil Young
on the Sunday (14 June) of the event, a man they’ve repeated named as an influence throughout their
career.
Speaking about the Pixies’ confirmation, festival promoter John Giddings said: "It
was hard to think of someone capable of complementing the musical talent of Neil Young but once I had the idea it was blindly obvious and it will surely
be a legendary day on the Isle of Wight."
The Prodigy, Stereophonics
and Razorlight will also headline the three-day event, which picked up Best Major Festival
at the UK Festival Awards in 2007.
Basement Jaxx, Pendulum,
The Ting Tings and The Charlatans are also confirmed, with many more names to be announced in the
coming months.
50,000 fans are expected to attend the festival, which has sold out for the last three years.
Tickets for this year's event are on sale now priced at £140 for an adult weekend pass
with camping or £70 for child camping ticket.
Non-camping passes will set you back £120
for adults and £60 for children.
