The Welsh rockers, whose hits include 'The Bartender And The Thief' and 'Just Looking', will make their only
UK festival appearance at the event, when they close the main stage on the Saturday (13 June) night.
They will share headline duties with Razorlight, who
will be performing off of the back of their third album 'Slipway Fires'.
Speaking about the band’s
confirmation, Stereophonics front man Kelly Jones
said: "The Isle of Wight festival is gonna be a great weekend. We're recording most of the 1st half of this year,
so to step out of the studio and headline the festival this year with it being even bigger than when we played it several
years ago, will be a highlight for us! It's gonna be rocking. Enough to make a bulldog wanna snap his chain!"
The festival organiser John Giddings commented: "We are proud to present two of the leading
UK rock bands - it promises to be a night to remember."
Today's confirmations join Friday (12
June) night headliners The Prodigy as well as Pendulum, Basement Jaxx,
The Ting Tings and The Charlatans, who will close the Big Top on the Sunday (13 June)
night.
50,000 fans are expected to attend the festival, which has sold out for the last three years.
Tickets
for this year's event are on sale now priced at £140 for an adult weekend pass with camping or
