Dizzee Rascal and more for Evolution Festival

Mystery Jets, The View, The Maccabees, The Wombats...

Dizzee Rascal and The Wombats are among the first acts announced for this year's Evolution Festival.

Mystery Jets, The View, The Maccabees and Ladyhawke are also set for the Newcastle-based festival alongside Friendly Fires, Nouvelle Vague and Twisted Wheel.

Three of Virtual Festivals' picks for 2009 - Little Boots, Florence and The Machine and White Lies - have also been confirmed for the weekender.

Twisted Wheel, Imelda May, VV Brown and The Puppini Sisters will also perform at the event as well as Kid British, The Big Pink, Dead Kids, Esser, Fan Death, Marina And The Diamonds, The Cahpman Family and Viva City.

Organisers have also announced that Chase And Status, Japanese Popstars and Rusko will play live on the dance stage, while Boys Noize, Kissy Sell Out, The Count And Sinden and Brodinski will all DJ.

Other confirmations include Kraft Kuts And Dynamite MC, Yuksek, James Yuill, Doorly, People Get Real, TC Monkton and Oli P.

Evolution Festival 2009 will take place at Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside from 24-25 May.
