Emerging American rockers Cage The Elephant, experimental
group Animal Collective, The Hot Melts, Deerhunter
and Mumford and Sons have also been confirmed.
Liverpool Sound City 2009,
now in its second year, will take place at various venues around Liverpool from 20-23 May.
Over 400 acts are expected to be perform across 30 venues during the four-day event, which showcases emerging talent
alongside some more established acts.
Sound City will also include talks, discussions, films and performance art.
This year’s event will kick off with a football competition in honour of John Peel.
Early bird tickets are
already on sale at £35 for a festival wristband, which gives festival-goers entry to all venues subject
to capacity.
