Beachdown announces local bands line-up
Los Albertos, Drookit Dogs and more for Brighton
Brighton-based acts Mean Poppa Lean, Sweet Sweet Lies, Gloria Cycles and
The Perils have been confirmed for event in a bid to support talent from the region.
Other bands
confirmed include The Beautiful Word, Portslade, Ocean Reid, Chris
Simmons, Seeker, Two Spot Gobi and reggae act Rebel Control.
Speaking today's announcement organiser Joe Pidgeon said: "Beachdown is all about creating
a festival that is uniquely Brighton. As well as Beachdown’s international line-up of acts I think this is one of the
main reasons for last year’s event being such a success."
The bands will join an already impressive
line-up including The Blockheads, St Etienne, Grandmaster Flash and Norman

Shoreditch venue Favela Chic will also bring their vibe to the bash with a four-day residency in
a purpose-built arena at the festival. Described as a restaurant, menagerie, circus, bordello, concept, art space, club, sound,
party and bar, the residency looks to be very interesting indeed.
Beachdown Festival 2009 takes
place at Devil's Dyke, Sussex from 28-31 August.
Early bird tickets are already
on sale for £85. These come with one free child ticket (3-12 years old) and the choice of a complimentary
deck chair, two T-Shirts or drinks tokens that can be redeemed in any of the bars on site.
There are also 500
reduced rate child tickets on sale for £45. All children under the age of two get in for free.
