The festival will be Ben Harper's only Australian appearance
with his new band Relentless Seven. Songstress Missy
Higgins, Michael Franti and Spearhead and Lucinda
Williams are also set to perform.
Zappa Plays Zappa, Angelique Kidjo
and Tinariwen have also been confirmed for the New South Wales event which has moved to Tyagarah
Tea Tree Farm in Byron Bay for next April.
The festival is set will celebrate its 20th anniversary in
the spring and Taj Mahal, Tony Joe White, Ruthie Foster and The
Blind Boys Of Alabama have also been confirmed to help commemorate its birthday.
Watermelon Slim
And The Workers, Toni Childs, Luka Bloom, Alpha Blondy and reggae
supremos Easy Star All Stars will also perform at the five-day event.
Other names announced today
include Special Beat, Augie March, Blue King Brown, Saltwater Band,
Sonny Landreth, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Benny Gallagher.
Bob
Log III, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, The Bamboos, Watussi, Lowrider
and Nu Yorican Heights have also been confirmed.
Bluesfest 2009 will run from 9-13 April and early bird tickets are already on sale at
$340 for five days or $255 for a three-day consecutive pass.
Camping is strictly
