Hard Rock Calling, O2 Wireless to stay at Hyde Park

Festival bosses negotiate three-year deal for venue

28 October 2008

Several organisations were invited to submit formal bids to Royal Parks, who manage the London space, but it was Live Nation's proposal that proved successful.

The company have hosted events at the site for the past ten years including Live 8 and Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebrations in June.

Speaking about securing the site, Live Nation's festival director John Probyn said: "Hyde Park is a unique venue in the middle of a unique city. We intend to continue to bring the very best in music and entertainment to the heart of the community.

"I am delighted that we can continue to develop shows in Hyde Park and work with the professional agencies who support us such as Royal Parks, Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police and our partners."

There are no dates confirmed for Hard Rock Calling or O2 Wireless in 2009 yet.
