Thousands braved inches of thick mud to hear some of the band's best known hits, including 'Going Out With' and 'Take Her Back', during their half hour show on the Dance To The Radio-hosted stage.
"Leeds, it's supposed to be a secret", mocked singer Matt Bowman before launching into recent single 'Emergency'. The news was broken first on Virtual Festivals yesterday.
Earlier in the evening, garage rocker Wintermute and and the bluesy Wallbirds helped keep the home crowd warm in a night dedicated to local breakthrough acts.
But despite their set being cut short, the bouncing antics of Bowman ensured the Pigeon Detectives romped home triumphant to cried of "Yorkshire" from the excited crowd.
Leeds Festival continues until Sunday. Stay posted for more news updates.
