The prog rockers put on a dazzling stage spectacle to rival any previous festival show as they headlined their only European festival date of the year.
Predictably, the trio drew the biggest crowd of the day and few could have been disappointed by what they witnessed.
The show began with six giant satellite dishes spinning and glowing on stage, which fired out beams of light into the crowd as the opening howls of 'Map Of The Problematique' rang out.
That sparked a staggering light show of green lasers and smoke, while images of marching robots and spaceships were projected onto the satellite dishes.
'Supermassive Blackhole' followed but it wasn't until 'Hysteria'
that the crowd really found their voice and dancing shoes.
One early highlight included the epic 'Butterflies And Hurricanes', which ended with huge jets of smoke fired from the front of the stage.
'Time Is Running Out', 'Stockholm Syndrome' and 'Take A Bow' completed the set as another burst of smoke covered the stage.
But the band soon re-emerged to play an encore of 'Starlight', 'Plug In Baby' and 'Knights Of Cydonia', unleashing white balloons and a cascading wall of sparks as the set drew to a climatic close.
Meanwhile, The Prodigy headlined the 4music Stage and drew a massive crowd as well. Running
through hits such as 'Breathe', 'Smack My Bitch Up' and an almost metal version of 'Firestarter', the
Essex band played a triumphant show.
Keith diving into the crowd on more than one occasion, while Maxim challenged: "The Essex warriors to represent" before the set ended with 'Outta Space'.
