The UK's biggest free event will take place at Memorial Park, Coventry from 4-6 July
even though organisers faced protests from Environmental Health officers and nearby communities.
The complaints
were over the festival's noise levels which are expected to increase compared with last year's event, but the festival
had its licence granted yesterday (1 July).
Speaking about the licence, Hazel Noonan, spokeswoman
for the city's council said: "The Godiva Festival has become a fantastic event for thousands of people, firmly
putting Coventry on the map as a great place for live entertainment.
"The majority of residents are behind
it but we fully understand the concerns some people living close to the park have."
The Enemy, Get Cape. Wear
Cape. Fly, and Inner Circle will headline
the event, which is likely to attract around 75,000 revellers. Other attractions at the festival include art and crafts, stand-up
comedy and a children's area.
