Sex Pistols to gazump Stones at Isle of Wight

Following The Rolling Stones' infamous luxury ferry trip to the Isle of Wight festival last year, tonight's headliners The Sex Pistols have gone one better and booked a fleet of helicopters to transport the legendary punk band to the site.

A source told the Daily Star: "The Pistols heard about the Rolling Stones chartering their own ferry to the festival last year and decided they too needed to travel in style.

"There's nothing to beat the view of the Isle Of Wight from the skies when you're on your way to play to that fantastic crowd. Johnny and the band were well up for the idea of helicopters."

In other old-punks-crossing-The-Solent news, The Stooges have reportedly chartered their own speedboat from the mainland with Iggy at the wheel.

Supporting the Pistols on today (Saturday)'s bill will Ian Brown, The Zutons, The Stooges and Amy McDonald.

The highlight so far today has been an unscheduled appearance by the sun. Shorts and bikini-clad campers emerged to bright clear, blue skies this morning and the upbeat party atmosphere is soaring in Seaclose Park.
