Wax:On cancellation blamed on credit crunch

The one-day music event was due to be staged at Lotherton Hall, Leeds, on 31 May, featuring sets by Primal Scream, Hercules And The Love Affair, Annie Mac and more.
But the festival looks to have become the first victim of the global credit crunch, which is currently affecting the UK.
Organisers claim the cancellation was nothing to do with poor ticket sales, but rather a large investor who pulled out at the final hour.
Event promoter Dan Blackledge said: “On forming the company there were two streams of investment scheduled in order to ensure the event was viable in year one. This morning we have been informed that due to circumstances in the global financial market place and its knock on effect, the event has become unsustainable.”
“We send out most sincere apologies to all of you that have bought tickets. We threw everything we had at the event to try and make it go ahead and we’re really disappointed we couldn’t see it through."
Wax:On have instructed all ticket agents to give full refunds to all ticket holders. The Wax:On club nights will continue in Leeds, Newscastle and Brighton and organisers have not ruled out a return to festivals in future.
