De La Soul to headline Beachdown

De La Soul, The Maccabees, Lightspeed Champion and Reverend And The Makers are among the first acts confirmed for Beachdown Festival near Brighton.

Others just announced for the August bank holiday event include Terry Callier, Roy Ayers, Infadels, The Hat and Freakpower.

Beachdown Festival will set up camp on the outskirts of Brighton, sprawling itself across the nearby South Downs from 22–25 August.

Other acts include Azymuth, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jah Wobble All-stars and Amp Fiddler with many more to be confirmed.

The 11,000-capacity festival aims to be as carbon neutral as possible and will employ a number of energy saving and environmentally friendly tools.

There will be eight buses an hour running from Brighton to the festival site and back from 10am until 1am, which means all local festival goers can leave their cars at home.

The parking facilities will be located off site, so as not to disturb or damage the natural environment of the south downs, but near enough to walk to and from.

Food stalls on site will offer locally sourced and organic menus, some of which will be offered by local brand name restaurants.
