New drum 'n' bass event for WOMAD

Roni Size to host 2,000-capacity Beat Bristol

A brand new drum 'n' bass arena has been announced for the Saturday night at WOMAD, called Beat Bristol.

The 2,000-capacity marquee will be hosted by Roni Size, who will be presenting his award-winning band Reprazent, as well as DJing alongside fellow Bristol DJ TC.

In keeping with the ethos of WOMAD there will also be DJs from Brazil on the night, including DJ Patife and DJ Andy, with MC Stamina in support.

WOMAD 2008 takes place at Charlton Park, near Malmsbury in Wiltshire, from 25-27 July.

Organisers have already announced an array of acts including Lee Scratch Perry (UK), Rumberos de Cuba (Cuba), Monajat Yulchieva (Uzbekistan), Sa Ding Ding (Peoples Republic of China), Asere (Cuba), Mavis Staples (USA), Mor Karbasi (Palestine), Shane McGowan and guests (Ireland), Little Feat (USA), Show of Hands (UK) and SudMM (Sicily).
