Glastonbury stage to 'double in size'
United Kingdom | 20 February 2008
One of Glastonbury Festival's most popular stages is set to double in size at this year's event.
The John Peel Stage, which is dedicated to new music after the late DJ, is to be revamped to allow more people in.
Last year, sets by the likes of Hot Chip and The Gossip proved so popular that many fans were left outside craning their necks to see and hear their favourite bands.
Organisers have now decided to expand the tent and are considering installing big screens outside.
Martin Elbourne (pictured), who books bands for Glastonbury, said: "We're doubling the size of the John Peel Stage. It’s going to be a much bigger, better tent, hopefully with a screen outside it.”
Acts likely to play the John Peel Stage include Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Late Of The Pier and Hadouken.
