More major names heading to T In The Park
Organisers promise much more to come

18 February 2008
Managing director Geoff Ellis told a packed press conference in Glasgow that the 80,000 festival goers lucky enough to
land the gold dust briefs can expect massive names to join the likes of Rage Against The Machine, REM,
The Verve, Kings of Leon, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy
and Kaiser Chiefs on the bill.
And with a Friday night Radio 1/NME headliner and several top
spots in the King Tut's and Pet Sounds Arena tents still to be announced it's expected that a series of arena touring
acts will bolster the 15th year of the Balado based event. Rumours suggest that one major pop act is set to be confirmed.
Mr Ellis said: "We had hoped to be able to announce the Friday night Radio 1/NME headliner but we are still
putting the finishing touches to that deal.
"And behind the scenes we are trying to pull off more major name
coups to play at T In The Park this year.
"The line-up is absolutely fantastic and I'm delighted to have
The Verve, Rage Against The Machine and REM - who will be joined by Kings of Leon on the Sunday - headlining in 2008."
Meanwhile, Mr Ellis claimed the Government had left festival organisers with no power to tackle money-grabbing
touts.
Within minutes of the remaining 40,000 tickets being snapped up - with some fans queuing overnight in freezing
condition for ticket offices to open - briefs were being offered on eBay for £600 a pair.
But despite being
disgusted by touts, Mr Ellis admitted that they could do absolutely nothing to stop it.
He added: "Unfortunately
this is not a devolved power and is still dealt with at Westminster, so we have to deal with them and to be honest they have
left us impotent to act.
"The view is that it's a free market and people buy houses to sell them on at
a profit without laws stopping them.
"So I have to say that we'll be doing absolutely nothing to stop
touts because we simply don't have the power."
T In The Park takes place at Balado,
Kinross, from Friday 11 July to Sunday 13 July. Mr Ellis also revealed more details about who'll be playing
