More Leeds Rioters Face the Music

19 February 2003
The eight (which
included the son of a Welsh MP) appeared at Leeds Magistrate Court today (February 19), the second batch
of rioters to be convicted, following the sentencing of two last month. They admitted participating in the disturbances
on the last night of the festival, which resulted in 40 injuries and an estimated £250,000 damage, with toilet blocks being
burned down and police pelted with stones and missiles.
The accused were all apprehended from police CCTV video images and exclusive Virtual Festivals photography from the scene. As we were the only reporters brave, or dumb, enough to enter the riots, our footage was seen all over the world; everywhere from NME and Rolling Stone to trade mags for the chemical toilet industry!
